CAB’s New Community Directory

Shining a Light on Local Support – CAB’s New Community Directory

In the week before Easter I went along to the launch of Citizens Advice Bureau Invercargill’s new online community directory. Held at the Invercargill Library, the room was absolutely packed, which says a lot about how valued this kind of resource is in our region.

The directory, now live at CAB, brings together 565 local community organisations in one place. That’s a massive resource—not just for individuals looking for support or connection, but also for those of us working in the community sector who need to know what’s out there.

I’d encourage anyone working in or alongside community services to bookmark the site and use it often. It’s clear, searchable, and easy to navigate—making it easier than ever to point people in the right direction.

It’s also a great reminder that CAB does so much more than answer questions (although they’re brilliant at that too). They offer free, confidential advice on everything from tenancy and employment to immigration and consumer rights, and they can help people navigate complex systems or advocate on their behalf when needed.

It’s great to see tools like this strengthening connection across the sector. Big kudos to the CAB Invercargill team for the work they’ve put in to make this directory a reality.
